First Hilton for Norway

Hilton Hotels have announced that they are to open a brand new hotel in Oslo city centre, this will be the first of their famous Doubletree Brand to open in Scandinavia.

The hotel will be on Stortingsgata in an old listed building, with all the classic décor of old town Oslo retained. Everything having been done in compliance with the local heritage guidelines.

If you don't know your way around central Oslo already, then you ought to know that this puts the hotel within touching distance of everything that central Oslo hast to provide, whether for the tourist, or for the business person.

Running parallel with Stortingsgata is the busy shopping district in and around Karl Johans Gate, of course also on the Stortingsgata is the the Norwegian National Parliament [Storting]. In between the Parliament building and the Royal Palace [Slottet] is the lovely park with a lake/ice skating rink known as the Spikersuppa, which when translated into english means something like "Nails Soup", but no one has ever told me a good reason why.

Anyway now that they will have a brand new hotel maybe you could go and find out for yourself.
