City list - Bradford

First in an occasional series where we list 5 essential things to do or see in UK cities.

This week: Bradford!

1. Curry - yes, you just knew I was going to mention this, didn't you? While all of the North West of England is good for curry, Bradford excels in tyerms of range and quality. It doesn't matter whether you're a Phall/Vindaloo/Madras hand like me, or a calm, balanced Korma-head, Bradford is THE place to get your curry fix. So if you have a love of subcontinent food: you know what to do. Go to Bradford. Good all-round info here.

2. Bronte history. This is the area where the Bronte sisters' history abounds. Some good info here at Bronte Country.

3. The National Media Museum - a museum of photography, film amd other modern media. A must-see for those interested in the media (err, that'll be all of us then?)

4. Markets - keeping the UK tradition of markets alive, Bradford is awash with farmers' and produce markets. Definitely something for the foodie to make a change from all that curry.

5. Saltaire - UNESCO heritage site. This mid-nineteenth century 'model village' is a piece of living history - walk its streets and relive the late-period of the uindustrial revolution!

Bradford is easy to get to by road, rail or air, and you can easily book accommodation on Bradford by phone or by using the internet.
